Unlike the OG rainbow highlighter by Bitter Lace Beauty and its new drugstore dupe from Wet n Wild, I Heart Makeup's version is more pastel and iridescent than its predecessors upon swiping onto skin, it seems. Also, it doesn't include an orange shade like some of the other rainbow highlighters have—a hue that honestly that reminds me of a bad self-tan, especially come wintertime. Oh, and the packaging isn't just a standard round pan. The heart-shaped applicator may make it at first seem hard to use, but with the right brushes, you'll be free to create all the Lisa Frank-inspired highlighter looks your heart desires. (pun intended, sorry)

When swept on with a fan brush (love this one, TBH ), all five shades line up to give cheeks a subtle rainbow effect. This highlighter is superbuildable, so if you find that the first pass is too sheer, you can add a layer or two to make the actual rainbow more obvious. When all of the shades are swirled together with a fluffy brush, the rainbow highlighter gives cheeks a flattering lavender glow.

This isn't the first heart-shaped launch from I Heart Makeup. The British-based company also has bronzer, blush, and highlighting shades in similar packaging, as you can see below.

I Heart Makeup is the sister company of Makeup Revolution, which is a popular British line you can find in some drugstores stateside. Earlier this year, Khloe Kardashian wrote on her site that she's obsessed with one of Makeup Revolution's $6 highlighters, saying her "cheekbones were so sharp they could cut a bitch."

Damn. While I can't guarantee that the rainbow highlighter will give you the same severity, I am sure it will give your cheeks a soft, multi-colored shimmer to help you channel your inner unicorn.
