Vetements and Marques’Almeida's Holiday Collection Lands at Nordstrom

The two words “holiday” and “fashion” often conjure up images of fuzzy, itchy shirts rendered in red and green, ironic ugly sweater parties, or overly embellished disco ball dresses—even when it comes to high-end designers. It goes without saying that most of the fashion pieces you'd buy for holiday parties will probably end up in the back of your closet for the rest of the year.

But in the case of Nordstrom’s Space, a shop-in-shop for emerging and edgy designers, holiday style is looking up. Space opened last year and offers everything from Acne Studios to Comme de Garçons, Simone Rocha, and Opening Ceremony—the kind of labels that people are clearly talking about but may have hard time finding in traditional department stores. Right now, Space’s trend section focuses on fashion that falls under categories like "Street Rave," "Touchy Feely," "Queen of Hearts," and "New Classic Rock." Its latest curated collection? An unexpected approach to holiday fashion dubbed "Winter White."

The best holiday looks from the past 100 years:

For the collection, Nordstrom tapped labels such as Vetements and Brother Vellies to exclusively recreate some of their signature pieces in shades of winter white. In the shop you’ll find British brand Shrimps’s Bella Faux Fur Coat in white, a denim minidress and jacket by Marques’Almeida, frilly white tops and shirts by British designer Molly Goddard, a Comme des Garçons wallet rendered in snow white, and perhaps the most covetable: Vetements’s graphic Antwerpen hoodie. All pieces are available online and in select stores now.

You won’t find most of these pieces anywhere else and they’ll look stylish far beyond the holiday season. But the idea of wearing winter white at your holiday soirées is pretty genius. Even if you don’t get in on Nordstrom’s new collection, you can take inspiration from the simplistic style and sport an all-white look at your next holiday party. It’s clean, minimal, and chic—the opposite of holiday fashion disasters of the past.
