Jen Atkin Gives Huda Kattan a Haircut With Office Scissors

You shouldn't cut your hair at home— that is unless you’re celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin. On a recent visit to Huda Kattan and Mona Kattan’s studio, Atkin gave them an impromptu trim without using professional tools—and it was recorded.

In the video, Jen Atkin gives Huda Kattan a haircut with office scissors; that’s right, a pair of Target scissors you probably have on your desk right now. With steady hands Atkin lightly snipped away Kattan’s dead ends and reshaped her style. While Atkin worked her magic the longtime pals took advantage and caught up on their busy lives. Atkin talked about her recent involvement with the launch of the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer in the U.S, and gave the beauty mogul a few hair maintenance tips. Atkin prescribed Kattan regular masks and oil treatments for her ends. After a few minutes Kattan’s hair looked healthy and revived, and all it took was a pair of basic scissors, a hair clip, and a small amount of OUAI Finishing Creme. She then used those same "Kindergarten scissors" to give Mona Kattan (Huda's little sister and owner of The DollHouse salon in Dubai) a quick touch-up as well. While trimming Kattan's hair which was a bit damaged from recently going blonde, Atkin spit some serious advice. "I think this is something women really need to be cautious of. Whenever we're going through something hormonal. And want to do something really drastic to your hair to deal with whatever is going you gotta think twice. Especially post-breakup." Being that this was her 92nd haircut in four days, we trust Atkin knows what she’s talking about.

While Atkin shared in an Instagram post that this was all for fun, and reinforced that you should "not try this at home," she gave a tip if you ever find yourself needing an emergency trim: The key is to cut in an upward motion, not horizontally.
