Demi Lovato Goes Back to Brunette (UPDATE)

UPDATE (October 24, 2016 12:00 p.m.): It looks like Demi Lovato had her fun as a blonde and is now ready to venture back to the darker side. Just five days after posting a selfie with her new platinum blonde locks, Lovato posted a Snapchat as a brunette. The caption read, "Back to brown." People reports her initial dabble with lighter strands may have been linked with her new hair campaign. She recently tagged Wella Koleston MX, the Latina division of Wella, in an Instagram post, captioning, "Feeling confident with this blonde! Show your inner light and feel it too!" As far as we're concerned, she's equally gorgeous both ways.

Hair and style chameleon Demi Lovato is back at it again. After giving her wavy black lob a good run throughout her Future Now tour—which wrapped up in September—the star decided to switch things up a bit. In fact, more than a bit: Demi Lovato has new platinum blonde hair—and we're not mad about it at all.

In the past, Lovato has pulled off a variety of hair colors—a fuchsia undercut, blue highlights, and rainbow-colored strands—with ease. And earlier this year Lovato sported a short black 'do on our February 2016 cover. Now, with her latest selfie, Lovato reveals she’s going back to her lighter days—and the look is positively ethereal.

“Goldie locks,” she captioned her late-night Instagram image, showing off her fresh style. (Check out the Snap video at the bottom of this post.) From the shot, it seems like Lovato traded her moody, dark strands for beachy blonde waves—but what we really love is how the color seamlessly transitions at the roots from golden blonde to a more platinum color at the ends.

While fall has been known to be an ideal time to try darker hair colors, Lovato isn’t the only star who has gone the opposite route this season. A few weeks ago, Kylie Jenner also decided to join the blonde movement, dying her hair platinum blonde before switching over to a rose-gold hue. Us Weekly also reported that Kristin Cavallari recently traded in her dirty blonde locks for an icy platinum blonde. Hmmm, do we spy a new fall trend? Perhaps, but for now all we know is that we’re certainly feeling Lovato's brightened-up look.

And hey, if nothing else, going blonde in the fall may be a great way to boost your mood as the days get shorter—and the nights get longer.
