The L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paint Has a Major Shade Selection

If I had to choose my favorite 2016 trend, it would be the normalization of blue lipstick. As seen with the new L’Oréal Paris Infallible Lip Paint, even drugstore brands are jumping on the bold-lip look. Before this year, trying to find the perfect blue in a formula that didn't dry your lips was a struggle. Now, with celebrities, like Lupita Nyong'o and Rihanna, subbing in the moody shade for burgundy or purple, more and more brands are creating their own versions of blue lipstick. But L’Oréal Paris didn't stop at blue. For their latest launch, they created 14 intensely pigmented hues. They stuck to their usual aesthetic with neutrals like Nude Star (a dark rose that looks amazing on all skin tones—more on that below) and Taupeless (a, well, taupe), but also included two shades of purple, orange, and blue. Domineering Teal and Navy Spy are true to their names, with the first one being a shade I have yet to see a prestige brand try.

Not only is the shade range on point, the lip paints look, feel, and smell incredible, too. The raspberry-scented formula swipes on like a thick gloss packed with color, but on lips, it's a non-sticky, waterproof, and smudge-proof dream. Despite the blistering wind yesterday, Sultry Sangria (a burgundy) helped make my lips feel like they weren't shriveling up from dryness because it felt like a creamy lip balm. However, unlike a balm, you get opaque color with a patent leather-like finish in just one swipe. And it lasts longer, too. I scarfed down a morning glory muffin and sipped on peppermint tea while wearing it; most of the lip paint stayed intact. By the end of the day, my lips had a lovely sangria stain.

Here are swatches of all 14 shades, including Domineering Teal, on three skin tones.
