The New Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick Shades: Everyone Who Inspired Them

When it comes to naming lipstick shades, Kat Von D doesn't stick to standard descriptors like Dusty Rose or Berry. Instead, she pulls inspiration for the names of her Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and other products from important people (or animals) in her life. One of the Studded Kiss lipsticks is an ode to her cat, Poe, and a pink liquid lipstick is even named after her on-and-off frenemy Jeffree Star. Yesterday, the tattoo artist/beauty mogul announced 25 new shades of her cult-favorite lipstick on Instagram, and we noticed several of them had familiar monikers. We rounded up everyone who inspired the latest additions to the line. All of the creatively named shades will be launching next year. (And we can't wait.)

Virginia Woolf (Woolf)

You probably read some of her novels, like Mrs Dalloway and To the Lighthouse, in high school (and TBH you should keep reading her work). The early feminist writer, who Von D calls one of her favorite poets, inspired a deep stone grey called Woolf.

Jessica Haze (Haze)

Von D dedicated Haze, a greige, to Jessica Haze, an Australian makeup artist living in Detroit who's popular on Instagram for her unconventional aesthetic.

Miss Argentina (Argentina)

Remember the seafoam-skinned receptionist that Barbara and Adam meet while in the waiting room in the afterlife in the movie Beetlejuice? (Or maybe I'm the only '90s kid who has that movie memorized.) Von D made a vibrant fuschia named after her.

The famous Cuban singer lives on in a gorgeous warm almond of the same name.

Malice Mcmunn (Malice)

The neon persimmon red in the lineup called Malice is actually named after one of Von D's biggest muses, Alice "Malice" Mcmunn. The badass model/actress/dancer loves red lipstick just as much as Von D.

Ashley Sherengo (Zero)

A pale cement grey dubbed Zero takes its moniker from Ashley Sherengo's cat. The makeup artist was once featured as Von D's Muse of the Week on her YouTube channel.

Kristin Walcott (K-Dub)

The upcoming Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in K-Dub (a neon berry) got its name from the cruelty-free company's senior vice president. Von D wrote on Instagram that Walcott is a woman she looks up to in many ways.

Peter Paul Rubens (Rubens)

Not only is Von D a tattoo artist, she's also a painter. Naturally, she has a favorite master painter, and the 17th century baroque-style artist helped inspire Rubens, a neon magenta.
