This $250 Foundation Gives Me the Perfect Rich Bish Complexion

Imagine that the economy isn't on a lazy river raft ride straight into the depths of another recession. Imagine that you are such a lady of luxury and leisure that even if that thought does pop into your head, you don't care because you're so untouchably flush with hella cash money. Now imagine what beauty products you would use — only the best and most luxurious, naturally.

Well then, be not surprised should you find yourself in possession of The Most Luxurious Foundation Ever (title case so you know it's legit). Cle De Peau's The Foundation is so fancy it needs no proper name — it is the one and only: The Foundation. Also, it's $250. But that's nothing to you because you're a rich bish and you deserve the best!

Well. Feast your eyes upon the best.

The Foundation comes in this lucite and glass faceted jar (ooooh!) and sits upon its own faceted coaster with a shiny metal spatula (ahhhh!). This special sauce contains Cle De Peau's signature ingredient, Illuminating Complex EX, which is a superhero-sounding name for... something that "diminishes the appearance of damage caused by dryness and brings visible improvement to skin by providing hydration and a smooth refined texture." I mean, one would expect Cle De Peau to formulate their makeup to contain skin-care benefits because it's the future and nobody has time in the future to not double up on skin-care in their makeup.

The texture of the foundation is like a liquid-gel and feels much like a nice moisturizer when applied. That's not to say that it should be used as a stand-in for your moisturizer, but it's very hydrating and errs on the dewy side of finishes. The coverage is medium, I'd say — you only need a teeny bit for sheer coverage or you can build it up for more coverage and way more of that dewy finish.

I have normal to dry skin, so a foundation formula like this is *chef's kiss* perfection for me. Normally I go for super light-weight foundations and apply by dotting around my blotchy areas and patting and blending it in with my fingers. It's the best way to get a natural finish that sinks into your skin, trust (but make sure your hands are clean first).

I was surprised that I liked this as much as I do — as one who generally prefers spot-concealing to a full face of complexion makeup. The Foundation didn't completely cover every little blemish but rather cast a bit of even coverage overall. It did 86 the shadows under my eyes and around my nose, two places that always get a bit of coverage for me. A few pigmented dark spots from my zit-picking carnage were still visible though.

Here is an inelegant closeup:

What I do love is how it feels just like a nice medium-weight moisturizer, not cakey or thicc at all. It wears very comfortably and doesn't settle into fine lines for me. That dewy finish, however, is no joke, so I dusted some finishing powder on my T-zone for that optimal eggshell finish.

Ugh, I hate to say it but I really do like this foundation. It makes me look radiantly dewy and evened-out but also like it's just my skin — like I'm not even wearing foundation. The magic of luxury! The downfall of luxury, however, is that this stuff only comes in 12 shades of beige. I'm wearing O50 Deep Ochre, which is the second-to-last darkest shade. Turns out luxury ain't so inclusive after all, but as someone who will probably never be a one-percenter... this is not ground-breaking news. Hopefully, Cle De Peau will expand the shade range though since rich people come in all shades.

The entire experience of applying and wearing this foundation is very carefree rich girl. You are bearing witness to my Cinderella foundation moment — a plebe like me, imagine that! Screw a prince, I have the most luxurious foundation in the land.
