Why The Plant Base Time Stop Collagen Ampoule Sells Out on Soko Glam

The Plant Base may sound like the name of your cousin's new blog about going vegan, but it's the latest Korean skin-care brand to make its U.S. debut on Soko Glam. Last week, the e-retailer launched three of The Plant Base's Ampoules, and in just a couple of days, one of them completely sold out.

Luckily, The Plant Base Time Stop Collagen Ampoule is officially back in stock today, but I have a feeling it won't be available for long. So why did the ampoule fly off the digital shelves so quickly? It all comes down to ingredients. Just as its name suggests, The Plant Base focuses on creating skin-care products with only plant-based ingredients and without mineral oil, parabens, and artificial fragrance.

Charlotte Cho, Soko Glam's co-founder, discovered The Plant Base after speaking at a cosmetics conference in Korea. "I was completely aligned with their philosophy of having natural plant extracts as the base of their formula," she says. "After testing it personally for two months, I was really impressed with the results. It's rare to find a brand that is so committed to high concentrations of their hero ingredient, and The Plant Base is one of those rare brands that has done this well at an affordable price."

The Time Stop Collagen Ampoule in particular is spiked with almost 77 percent mushroom extract, including lion's mane (or Hericium Erinaceus extract), which is known for promoting collagen production and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. These benefits alone make the ampoule one of Soko Glam's first offerings that focus on aging. It also features 180 mg of snow mushroom (or Tremella fuciformis). "I'm excited about Tremella Fuciformis, another mushroom extract that is in the formula, because this is a natural ingredient that is as effective as hyaluronic acid," Cho explains. "It helps the skin retain moisture and even known to help with wound healing."

All of this may sound too good to be true, but dermatologist Dendy Engelman supports this info. She told Allure in a past interview that "[Tremella Fuciformis] draws moisture to the skin, like hyaluronic acid," but "the particles are smaller than hyaluronic acid so it penetrates the skin more easily." You can also find it in the Earth's Recipe Energy Boosting Toner and Dual Hydrating Liposome Essence.

You'll also find sensitive skin-friendly centella asiatica extract on the ampoule's ingredient list. Cho lauds cica, as it's more commonly known, for calming and soothing skin and calls it one of the most popular K-beauty ingredients of the moment. The Time Stop Collagen Ampoule is also formulated with licorice extract, which helps even out skin tone.

The name ampoule also may be confusing for some, but it's just a fancy name for serum. With that in mind, you can use the Time Stop Collagen Ampoule as such. Cho suggests slathering it on after cleansing, toning, and applying essence. You can also mix one pump of it with your go-to moisturizer or sunscreen. Overall, Cho recommends the sold-out serum to "anyone looking to bring back elasticity or firmness to the skin or have fine lines to deep lines."

You can shop The Plant Base's Time Stop Collagen Ampoule now while it's still available on sokoglam.com for $29.
