You Can't Wear Campaign Merch to Vote Tomorrow, But You Can Wear This Nail Polish

There is an entire world of etiquette that applies just to the voting polls. (Curious how Allure editors are voting? You know you are.) To selfie or not, in and of itself, is entirely dependent on the state that you live in. Same goes for bringing in your phone—or any electronic device—into the voting booth. Most states, however (with the exception of Maryland), have a law that prohibits voters from showing up at the polls in the faces or names of the candidates they're supporting. Because of this, many women supporting Hillary Clinton have elected to wear white when they cast their ballot, in a nod to the suffragists who also wore white while fighting for women's right to vote.

But now, there's a whole other way (or color) to show the world that you're voting for HRC, if you know, you're with her. Enter OPI's classic red shade Madam President, an almost perfect way to endorse the first female presidential nominee without breaking the law. (Keep in mind, of course, Clinton didn't sanction the nail lacquer.) What's crazy, though, is that the polish was released earlier this year as part of OPI's Washington DC-themed collection—only now has it begun to take on a new life of its own.

Hillary Clinton's Complete Pantsuit (Uhhh, Style) Evolution:

Allure reached out to OPI for comment on Madam President and we'll update this post as soon as we hear back. For now, though, check out what a few people on social had to say about the lacquer. You could argue, though, that OPI nailed it.

"Commodified my dissent and bought 'Madam President' nail polish," writes one Twitter user. "I don't care I need some joy in this campaign, however shallow. #ImWithHer."
