Ronda Rousey Is Pantene's Newest Spokeswoman

We already know that MMA fighter Ronda Rousey is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to a fight, but she's also become a fierce advocate for positive self-image outside the ring. Such is the case in her newest gig as the face of Pantene; in her ads for the brand, Rousey is giving us all a major dose of empowerment—and, of course, a serious case of hair envy.

Rousey appears in two new campaign videos, and in both, she's rocking two equally yet totally different looks: First, we see Rousey in fight-mode, with some dark eye makeup and her blond hair pulled back in tight braids. Her second look, though, is what you'd typically expect from "shampoo commercial hair"—long, silky, and down in loose waves, which Rousey pairs with a sleek white jumpsuit.

"Don't hate me because I'm strong. Strong is beautiful. I'm not one without the other. People call me 'Miss Man,' they call me savage. But if you think fierce can't be feminine, I'm about to show you what only a strong woman can do," Rousey says in one of the ads before busting out some sick fighting moves.

In the second ad, Rousey speaks about her impressive streak of dominance in the MMA world, and her experience as a woman in a sport known mostly for its male stars. "It doesn't matter if you're the only girl," she says in the video. "You have a right to be there."

As for her feelings on repping the famous hair brand, Rousey said she's excited about unlimited products (as we would be, as well) and how this honor reflects on her own gorgeous mane. When she found out she'd be its new spokeswoman, Rousey told Vogue, "I called all my sisters because we used to literally go to war over conditioner, and I was like, 'Conditioner forever for everyone!' Then I was just super-stoked: 'Wow, I’ve got Pantene-level hair!' I felt very proud."

Rousey joins an already impressive cast of diverse—in age, profession, gender, and ethnicity—crew of beauty ambassadors appointed this year; including Lion Babe's Jillian Hervey (also for Pantene); Muslim beauty blogger Nura Afia and vlogger James Charles who both recently joined the CoverGirl roster; Katie Meade, a model with down syndrome, who became the face of Beauty & Pinups; and Caitlin Jenner, who teamed up with M.A.C. earlier this year. Regardless of how you feel about 2016, at least we're making some progress.
