You want textured hair without a perm, a lengthy curling iron situation, a visit to a salon, or anything else requiring major time and effort and money? Pipe dream, you say? Not so much.
We feel your pain and so does beauty mogul Huda Kattan, who reposted a video by Dubai–based beauty vlogger El Jammi Gozali which demonstrates a super genius hair hack you're gonna want to see.
She starts by putting mousse in her hair, then braiding it. After waiting for 30 minutes, she gently goes over the plaits with a flatiron. Then, she unbraids the hair and kapow! Wave magic.
Luis Payne, artistic director at Hairroin Salon, tells Allure that the trick to making this hack work for you is using the right product beforehand, so your hair is both hydrated and able to hold the waves.
He suggests starting with Joico's Power Whip foam before braiding and using the straightener. When you're ready to hit your hair with some heat, Payne likes to use the GHD Platinum flatiron. "This iron is my favorite because it self-regulates heat so you won't damage hair," he says.
You wind up with "sexy, tousled mermaid waves. For those who want an added boost of volume, brush through waves once or twice with an anti-static, vented, gentle, non-tugging hairbrush."
Finish it all off by misting a light oil on your strands. How easy is that?
