The New GlamGlow #GlitterMask Is More Than Just #InstaBait

In all my nearly 26 years, I have never felt as popular as I did after using GlamGlow's new #GlitterMask. I posted a selfie (maskie?) on my Instagram Story after applying the mask, and the dozen or so replies I received immediately following made me feel like the homecoming queen I never was. (I was more of the kid who was only identifiable by my long curly hair and weird sense of fashion.)

GlamGlow's latest mask doesn't launch until December, but I got to test out the #GlitterMask during a recent self-care night. It has the same peel-off technology as the colorful, nostalgic ones that have come before it. The only difference between this one, though, is that it's black and flecked with holographic silver glitter.

The star- and circle-shaped glitter may be prime #Instabait, but let me be clear, the mask is still a face mask. (Not tea, no shade, no pink lemonade to my work soulmate Sarah Kinonen, who has taken a staunch stance against glittery skin-care products.) As fun as it is to take selfies with it on and peel it off, you'll reap the benefits of the GlamGlow GravityMud Firming Treatment. Glitter might not have any medical benefits, but the #GlitterMask is still packed with skin-loving ingredients like licorice and marshmallow leaf. Both of which help plump skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Licorice also helps brighten skin and even out skin tone. Basically, it's a win-win situation of skintertainment proportions.

In case you were worried, the glitter in the mask won't poke at your skin or get caught in your pores. It's encapsulated in the gel mask formula, meaning, once you peel the mask off, the glitter will be removed right along with it. Your face won't be left with any sparkly residue as if you just covered your whole face in glittery makeup.

The first time I used the mask, I immediately noticed its sweet scent. It smells like a piña colada, so putting it on was like whisking myself away to my own private island for 20 minutes — for a fraction of the price and zero hangover the next day. For the best possible results, you have to apply the #GlitterMask in a thin layer. This will help it dry faster and evenly, allowing you to pull it off in one piece. To ensure that the mask goes on as thin as possible, I painted it on with the applicator included in the mask's box. I made sure the mask didn't look too opaque on my skin. Pro tip: Seeing your skin tone peek through is actually a good thing.

Once the #GlitterMask is applied evenly, you can commence all of the selfie-taking. It's so sparkly that Kira Kira won't be necessary. The app does add a certain je ne sais quoi, though. As the mask sets, your face will feel tight and you probably won't be able to laugh. (I speak from experience.) At that point, you can wiggle your face to help loosen up the mask a bit. Then, grab hold of one of the edges and start peeling it off. You might want to pause to take a Boomerang, but that's up to you. After all is said, done — and Instagrammed — your skin, like mine, will look soft and bright. (I have the skin of teen who just hit puberty, so I can't speak to its wrinkle-fighting powers.)

You'll be about to shop and Snapchat GlamGlow's #GlitterMask to your heart's content starting December 13 for $69 on glamglow.com.
