See Gigi Hadid's AMAs Swarovski-Studded Manicure Up-Close (EXCLUSIVE)

Bright coral lipstick. Silvery highlights. A gorgeous half-up bouffant. Gigi Hadid's AMAs beauty looks were hard to miss. In fact, if you were watching the show there was no way you could miss them because the model—as co-host of the event—probably got the most airtime out of any person in attendance. But there was one part of her look that you probably didn't catch, unless you got really close to the TV screen, or you had a head's up from Hadid's manicurist for the night, Mar y Soul.

Hadid celebrated her big night—and complemented her numerous sparkly ensembles—with a special nail art design that was the perfect balance of flashy and finessed. To ensure the look wouldn't clash with either her bold lip or red Versace gown, Soul kept everything neutral, with no colors other than beige and gold. But while she kept the color palette subdued, the celebrity manicurist (who also worked with Lady Gaga for the event), went big with the bling.

After painting Hadid's nails with in Bare Beige and adding a topcoat for a high-shine finish, Soul then glued on over 200 gold Swarovski crystals of all different shapes along just the outer edge of each nail. "I used a combination of my favorite Japanese tweezers and my new Crystal Katana tool that I recently bought at Skyline Beauty," she told Allure directly after the show, sharing some pictures she took backstage on her iPhone, giving us an up-close and personal view of her handiwork.

And although 200 crystals is a lot of bling, what I love about this look is how it stays sophisticated, thanks to the strategic placement along just one side of each nail. Hadid's hands would have looked very different (and probably flashed like a disco ball under the stage lights) if they were covered entirely with crystals. Instead, it added a hint of tasteful shine—and a bit of fun to Hadid's already beauty-packed evening.
