Holographic makeup has been a huge trend in the beauty industry for a while now, and it's not going away anytime soon. New collections featuring the shapeshifting magic of holographic beauty are popping up all the time, including Urban Decay's new disco-inspired holographic collection and a brand-new holographic hair foam from IGK. Now, according to an exclusive first look from Bustle, Wet N Wild is reimagining the whole trend with a goth makeover in its upcoming Goth-O-Graphic collection, and there are so many reasons to be excited about this one.
Let's start by looking at an Instagram from the brand itself, which is captioned, "Unicorns are so 2017. It's time to unveil your sultry side with our entrancing Goth-O-Graphic Collection. #wetnwildbeauty #gothographic #crueltyfree #makeup #beauty." Seems they're going after all the recent unicorn-themed makeup brands have been releasing while still keeping things holographic.
Evelyn Wang, the Senior Vice President of Marketing over at Wet N Wild, explained this choice to Bustle, saying, "For every trend, there's always an opposite, and it was clear with the huge number of unicorn and rainbow-themed launches in 2017, that at least some makeup fans would be craving a more rebellious and moodier look this year." Wang's theory was certainly predicted by runway shows and editorial looks of the last year — in 2017, moody goth-inspired looks could be seen all over the world, including on models at the Essa show (seen above), whose makeup was done by M.A.C. for the presentation.
According to Bustle, the collection will include skull-adorned packaging to keep things on point aesthetically. The Goth-O-Graphic collection includes both powder and stick highlighter, metallic liquid liner, liquid lipstick, liquid eye shadow, and more. The shade range is all about contrast with major pops of color. You'll be able to get it on February 20 on the brand's website and at other major Wet N Wild retailers on March 1.
