Get Your First Look at Apple's New Emojis

The latest set of emoji are almost here! While the official release date is still TBD, Apple released a developer preview of the new and improved emoji of iOS 10.2 this week. Judging by what we’ve seen so far, they’re about to totally elevate our texting game—the new kit will include updates to some of our old favorites, foods we’ve been wishing for forever (avocado!!!), as well as a whole new set of (ahem, overdue) badass working women. Here are our favorites and why we can’t wait to use them.

1. Rock Star

Natural beauty looks and the no makeup movement totally have their place. But so does bold AF beauty game. This badass emoji totally has you covered when you feel like going all out.

2. Avocado

Finally (finally!!!!), Apple is delivering an avocado emoji. It’s about time considering avocados have gone way beyond our breakfast plates and salad bowls and totally infiltrated our beauty routines. With that in mind, this little baby will be appropriate in just about any text situation.

3. Farmer

Whether you intentionally go all-out organic or not, organic beauty products are becoming more and more mainstream. We have a feeling that the fresh-faced farmer girl emoji would totally approve.

4. Scientist

When it comes to scoping out the best new formulas and products, cosmetic chemists are our saviors—these scientists know everything about the ins and outs of what we’re actually putting on our bodies and how to make sure we’re getting the best results. It’s about time they got their very own emoji.

5. Judge

The beauty industry is poised to undergo a major transformation if this proposed legislation on what goes into our favorite products has anything to say about it. Can we get a ruling?

6. Salad

In case you missed it, the green movement (kale and spinach and cucumbers, oh my!) has made its way from our plates and into our beauty routines. Insert praise hands emoji here.

7. Pregnant Woman

Especially considering our current political climate, women’s health and reproductive rights are a common topic of conversation. Sometimes you need a little emoji action to add some levity to the conversation.

8. Selfie

We have to admit, we’re kind of surprised that a selfie emoji doesn’t already exist. Beyond being a major cultural phenomenon, selfies even have health benefits. So you can pretty much count the selfie emoji as a mini confidence booster, right?

9. Shrug

In our world of totally digital communication, it’s inevitable that we’re going to have at least some level of miscommunication—even with our besties. Oh, well ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

10. Shopping cart

When it’s time to update your closet, the old-school shopping cart emoji will come in handy. We’ll be using this one to round up our gal pals when it’s time to scope the latest see-now-buy-now trends.
