Victoria's Secret Models' Gold Face Masks, Explained

Today's the day: The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show officially tapes tonight, even if it doesn't air til next week. But before the Angels hit the Parisian runway, they've got all kinds of prepping to do. Which explains the Victoria's Secret models' gold face masks you've been seeing all over your social feeds.

In the days leading up to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Angels including Elsa Hosk, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sara Sampaio, and Irina Shayk, to name a few, traveled to skin-care guru Mimi Luzon's headquarters for a some skin R&R in the form of some seriously super-luxe 24K gold face masks.

The mask in question, Luzon's Pure 24K Gold Mask, which is made with gold leaf to "improve skin’s elasticity, texture, and tone," according to the product's description on Luzon's website, will set you back a whopping $300. Pricey? Totally. But considering the benefits of adding gold to your skin-care regimen, the splurge-worthy treatment just might be worth it. (We said might!)

The precious metal is actually known to reduce skin inflammation and may help slow premature aging and wrinkling, Joshua Zeichner, a dermatologist in New York City, previously told Allure. And, according to the pro derm, gold has been shown to also brighten complexions over time. (Insert glitter emojis here.)

Besides the good-for-you takeaways of using the luxe elixir, along with supermodel-like skin, you'll also take home a couple of Instagram-worthy selfies. (Need proof? Peek the photos below.) But before you start slathering on the ultra-rich treatment, be warned, especially if you have allergies, advises Zeichner. "I have many patients who cannot even tolerate their gold jewelry," he says. "In the event of a red rash, either from your jewelry or from a skin cream spiked with gold, wash it off immediately and visit your dermatologist for evaluation."

Angel or not, you can easily incorporate the Victoria's Secret models' gold face masks into your own skin-care routine for less than a quarter of the price of a Mimi Luzon session. For starters, you can pick up this gold-infused sheet mask by Peter Thomas Roth, which will only set you back $12. Now, get your gold on.
